For the Love of the Game
Allison & Michael self-officiated their marriage June 1st, 2024 at Bluejacket Brewery in DC's Navy Yard. They chose this venue because of their love for sports and good beer. They were joined by close family and friends in the private cocktail room and the first floor of the brewery for their ceremony and dinner with a truly mouth-watering array of delectable foods and adult beverages.
The Ceremony
After taking a few getting-ready portraits with the groom, we moved into the private room for the intimate ceremony. As the bride entered the room everyone's face brightened and they exchanged the most thoughtful and heartfelt vows. After the ceremony, they swiftly signed the marriage certificate and were officially husband and wife! They took time hugging loved ones & it was time for family portraits.
Newlywed Portrait Session
After the ceremony, I led the couple to the upper gallows of the brewery where the special brews are concocted. Allison and Michael wanted to share their deep love for good beer and baseball in their wedding images, and to take advantage of the unique architecture of the brewery. We then took a 5-minute walk to the iconic "whale bone" bridge down the block, followed by the manmade waterfall, and Navy Yard boardwalk with a panoramic view of the Frederick Douglas Bridge.

Cocktail Hour & Dinner
After our session it was time to drink, eat, and socialize. More and more friends trickled in and participated in gift-giving, signing of the baseball-themed guest plate, and consuming of Bluejacket's signature drinks and dishes.
Sunset photos
As the sun began to set on a rather cloudy day, we went out one last time to take advantage of the soft lighting. We revisited the Yard bridge and sat beneath the canopy of some romantic string lights at a nearby public space. I was able to share with them, a polaroid I snuck in during their wedding ceremony. We ended with a few fun portraits of them adorning their signature blue and orange-framed sunglasses (to represent their love of the Mets). When it was finally over and I officially clocked out, the couple insisted I finally have a sip of one of the Bluejacket's own "Pattern Skies" wheat beer. After a busy day, it was the most delicious beer I'd ever tasted.
